CASE 02
GNSS Module Application for Fleet Tracking Terminal
How the TAU1114 module was matched to the customer’s requirements and the results achieved in deployment.

From Requirements to Results
A typical engagement flow: understand the application, match the module, support integration and validate in the field.
Customer Background
A fleet management provider needed a cost-sensitive tracking terminal for mixed vehicle fleets — trucks, vans and passenger cars. The terminal is powered at ignition-on, so fast hot start was a key user-experience factor, and the BOM had to stay competitive at high volume.
Project Requirements
- Cost-effective positioning solution for high-volume production
- Fast hot start after every ignition cycle
- Multi-constellation support for mixed regional fleets
- Easy migration from the customer’s previous module generation
Recommended Module
TAU1114
STANDARD GNSS MODULE
Implementation
TAU1114 was selected for its 1 s hot start, 15 mA current consumption and pin compatibility with the customer’s previous-generation module — allowing a direct drop-in upgrade without a full board redesign. Sample modules were provided for prototype testing, followed by a smooth transition to volume supply with consistent lead times.
Results
- Fast 1 s hot start delivering first fix almost instantly at ignition-on
- Drop-in replacement of the previous module with minimal redesign effort
- Stable positioning performance across mixed route conditions
- Reduced per-terminal BOM cost at volume
