GNSS Module FAQ

Answers about technology, product selection and ordering.

A GNSS module is a complete receiver that captures signals from global navigation satellite systems (GPS, BDS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC) and outputs position, velocity and time data to your host system — typically via UART. It integrates the RF front-end, baseband processor and firmware in a single surface-mount package.

Our standard modules (TAU1113 / TAU1114) deliver about 1.5 m CEP in open sky. Dual-band modules (TAU824M-N200) reach 1.0 m CEP, and RTK modules (TAU951M-P2 / K2) achieve centimeter-level accuracy of 1 cm + 1 ppm with correction data.

Single-band modules receive only L1-frequency signals, which is cost-effective and sufficient for most tracking. Dual-band modules additionally receive L5-band signals, significantly reducing multipath errors — a major accuracy killer in cities — and improving acquisition speed.

Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) uses correction data from a base station to cancel common errors, achieving centimeter-level accuracy. TAU951M-P2 has an internal RTK engine and supports RTCM corrections, PPP-B2b and PPP-RTK.

Dead reckoning combines inertial sensors (IMU) with GNSS so positioning continues when satellite signals are blocked — in tunnels, underground parking or urban canyons. Choose TAU951M-K2 if your device must keep outputting position through signal outages.

For battery-powered devices, TAU1113 is the first choice: 16 mA tracking current and only 15 µA backup current, with fast reacquisition to save energy between report intervals.

Yes. Our modules support the free-of-charge A-GNSS service, which dramatically reduces time-to-first-fix, especially for devices that power up infrequently.

TAU1113 and TAU1114 are pin-compatible with previous generations (TAU1103/1105 and TAU1102/1111) as well as many mainstream GNSS modules — making upgrades of existing designs straightforward. Contact us with your current module model and we will confirm compatibility.

We support prototype-stage orders with low MOQ for testing and evaluation. For volume production we offer flexible order quantities and stable lead times — contact us with your schedule.

Yes. We provide samples together with datasheets and reference design documentation. Our engineers also support datasheet analysis and application matching during your evaluation phase.

Our modules are certified with RoHS and REACH; TAU1113/TAU1114 additionally carry FCC and CE-RED certifications. Company-level certifications are shown on our About page.

We pride ourselves on fast response: technical questions are typically answered within one business day, in English or Chinese, by engineers who know the products in depth.
